In the back of circle track magazine, a company makes a 1:1.5 and 1:2 geared steering ratio increasers. It sells for $125.oo and appears to be about 5" in diameter.I took the photo, scaled the splined shafts to get approximate size. I then took that information and looked into installing one on the Z32, while my transmission was out. That particular unit CAN fit, but it will be VERY tight. it will require extensive modifaction (cutting) of the output shaft before the steering knuckle/universal joint. You would then need to spline that shaft (manually?). Then you would need to fabricate a 3" long splined adapter for the universal joint side. After all that, you'd have to fabricate a mount to keep the unit from moving and/or spinning in it's mount. With all that said, I considered putting together a kit. Due to the fabrication required, I felt it was not feasible for most. Also, you get into a liability issue if the gear reduction unit fails, the mount fails, or steering is other wise comprimised. The HICAS unit would not be effected negatively, if HICAS was installed and functional. I considered this mod due to the need for faster turning with less wheel input for road course and autocross use. Mod for a purpose
